Blue sky thinking on Sports Hall roof

Posted by: In Photovoltaic

The recent hot weather has been ideal for completing the Schuco roof mounting hardware for our latest 50kW solar panel PV system on the Sports Hall roof of St George’s school in Harpenden. The standing seam metal roof  on this relatively new building has allowed our team to make short work of the 400 clamps and 100 rails required to mount the 200 panels. The only problem we encountered was the summer sun itself which was so strong that it made the surface of the roof too hot to touch by the middle of the afternoon and reflected back into the faces of the installation team. After careful thought, we settled on a combination of early starts, suntan lotion and sunglasses – plus plenty of trips to the school’s drinking fountain conveniently located under the scaffold.
